Thermal Transfer Labels are often a firm favourite with companies that want to produce their own simple labels. Thermal transfer is great for variable data printing, barcoding and simple in-house printing in one colour with a blocky, crisp-edge finish.
It has been a steadily growing printing technique since its introduction in the 1940's but has only become more openly accessible to businesses within the last 30 years with a huge array of ribbon colours ready for application.
Where Thermal Transfer Labelling is frequently used:
- Shipping & Address Labels
- Overprinted Chemical Hazard Labels
- Sequentially Numbered Stickers
- Barcodes & QR Barcodes
- Custom Data Label Printing (i.e weights, colours, dimesnions, dates, times)
This digital printing process is slightly different from the conventional digital application of ink, using a heating element and a ribbon, the label substrate and ribbon simultaneously pass through the printer where the element meets and melts the ribbon on top of the label substrate to apply the desired printing effect. This printing method is preferred for its lifespan and durability in contrast to direct thermal printing.
Thermal transfer ribbons and labels for desktop printers are often standardised sizes but we like to be 110% sure, so we will ask you for your printer make and model to provide you with exactly what you need.
