Hot foil printing is a process favoured by luxury, heritage and aesthetically focused brands everywhere. The printed results of metallics instantly demand attention and respect from the consumer.
The method behind the printing is slightly identical to thermal transfer printing, but with a metallic ribbon pressed by a heated plate at around 120°C on the label surface to produce what is commonly called "hot foil stamping".
Where Foilblocked Labels are frequently used:
- Luxury Items & Packaging
- Cosmetic Packaging Labels
- Glassware & Gift Labels
You may be thinking this is just a one trick, shiny looking pony. There's clever psychology involved too - when we read, we read by recognising and arranging letters in a flat colour.
Foil blocking makes products memorable because the light reflective surface is not a flat colour. Instead, your attention is focused on the shape of the metallic print for a breif but extended period of time. The result is a more visually engaging packaging appearance.
We are one of the very few manufacturers that still traditionally print custom foil blocked labels in an assortment of metallic ribbon colour options, shapes and sizes.
