  • What is Natasha's Law and Who Does It Affect?

Wales introduced its legislation in March 2020, and Northern Ireland introduced its legislation back in May 2020. It applies to food products designated as ‘Pre-Packed for Direct Sale’ (PPDS). That is food prepared and packaged at the same facility it’s offered for sale to consumers. (This includes pre-wrapped products kept behind the counter.) It will potentially affect cafés, delis and sandwich shops as well as caterers, supermarkets and convenience stores with a ‘food-to-go’ offer. • How Packaging Labels Influence A Circular Economy:

    25th May 2021

In Germany, the government has passed an amendment to the Packaging Act with the likelihood of it becoming a standard of Europe – but what does this mean for labels? This amendment comes with added focus on the expansion of the recycling deposit system - for example: PET and glass containers. In addition to manufacturers and their waste, owners of restaurants and retailers will also have to offer reusable alternatives to their customers (instead of single-use plastic packaging) from 2023 when selling food and beverages for immediate consumption. For the retailers, this means that from 2022 there will be a…

  • The UK's Manufacturing Is Growing...

    17th May 2021

Statistically, the UK remains the ninth largest manufacturing nation in the world and the home of the first industrial revolution. UK manufacturing used to account for over 50% of the British economy, post WWII. This continued to decline to 25% of GDP in 1970, to 12% in 2008, then again in 2020 with a global pandemic... On the surface things looked bleak for the UK, until data released this year for UK manufacturing activity shown it’s now re-emerging at its fastest rate since 1994. (According to the IHS Markit/CIPS Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for April 2021). These statistics show signs of a forthcoming…

  • Sticking To Social Distancing

    22nd Jun 2020

Social distancing, we all hate it. Even more in current times where we want human contact more than ever. • How To Get The Right Packaging For Sanitary Products:

    26th Mar 2020

Since it’s commercial introduction, packaging has had to evolve to meet logistics, consumer tastes, trends and environmental needs. • How To Print: Metallic Effects Without Foiling!

    19th Feb 2019

It’s always useful to set some time aside to consider new material options to create an attention grabbing packaging label. Many brands opt for metallic effects such as Gold, Silver, Bronze and Rose Gold for that extra sparkle to their packaging labels…but how is it achieved? Foiling is often the first port of call for metallic labelling, the technique favours medium print runs and works beautifully on clear materials but of course, there is always a limitation for businesses… That limitation is usually a “cost vs value” showdown, where the bank gets the final say. We’re not here to dangle…
